Highland High Rugby has always been very important to Matt. He was able to play for a coach that was more out to make boys into great men than winning, but in turn won almost every game. Matt created life long memories traveling to play teams from all over the world including going to Africa for the World Cup. Matt and I first started dating during our junior year of high school just in time for Nationals. I was smitten, even by the extra short shorts.
Matt loved Rugby and he was good at it. He played many different positions on the field and was a team capitan for two years.
When we heard there was going to be a movie filmed around the different true stories of the team through out the years we were really excited. Matt's younger brother Dave, who also played for Highland, made the cut and was on the Highland rugby team in the movie. He did a great job and got some serious face time in a major motion picture. Go Dave! The coach in the movie is playing the character of Matt's amazing life changing coach Larry Gelwix. The movie opened last week in select theaters nation wide. We attended a premier in New York to see it for the first time. I definately recommend it. So if you are in the mood for a good flick go see Forever Strong and look for Matt in the pictures at the end.

Hey-Jake's little bro Jamey is in it to-we need to go see it ASAP! I'm so excited!
Ok for sure I am going to go now! That is Matt's bro? I have been watching the adds thinking "he is so cute!"
That is actually Sean Faris but Matt's bro is cute too!
That last picture is so great... I love Matt's expression!
Go Highland Rugby! We still need to see that movie.
Ok that is so funny!Having 2 is so much fun. I highly recommend it!
Loved the movie! We even caught Matt's pic in the end. Those shorts are way too sexy! We even took all the kidos we thought it was a good lesson for them to learn.
We went and saw it last night with Jeff and Erica. It was really good. Fun seeing Matt and Dave. I am still trying to figure out why anybody would want to do that to themselves. Talk about major pain!
We'll see it for sure, but I have a question? How come some of the guys have those black hats on and some don't?
Some Rugby players are tougher then others or should I say smarter then others...jk. Really though they help prevent concussions. Also they protect your ears from cauliflower ear both of these injuries are very prevalent in rugby. As you can see from the pictures I chose not to wear the helmet (aka scrum cap), you are a witness to those side effects:)
Matt
this is jon man i really love the short shorts u should rock those more often ha ha no for real matt is a stud athelete and a serious competitor. kia kaha
Jon-I like to wear those shorts to bed...Ashley just loves them:)jk
Matt
That is awesome! I know someone famous! We don't get out to see many movies these days, but will definitely make the effort for this one.
Those pictures remind me of a freaking tought kid, he probably wouldn't hurt a fly now,(Matt always had the biggest heart.)I don't really remember having to tackle or be tackled by Matt in football or rugby. I do remember, and will never forget the dead arms and dead legs he would give during the doorknob and safety game in Junior high, that pain is unforgetable. Safeties...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHLEY!
that is amazing. i've actually heard a bit about this movie...my friend mike poleman played for highland as well! crazy. i know i'm a few months behind, but do you know if this is still in theatres or on dvd...i want to take steve to the movie for our anniversary or get him the dvd for a stocking stuffer...
