On the Blog again...

So it has kind of been a while. Lot's of things have happened as in any family in the past 7 months, can't believe it has been that long. Sometimes I have thought, do I want to start the blog again or will I get distracted and stop. Or other times I think, where would I begin, do I go back an try to document the past -impossible. So here's where I'll start -today.

Do husbands think??

My recent hostess cupcakes

Tonight after another long pregnant day I was reading Matt questions from a gift we received called Table Topics, while he was watching his nightly TV. The last and FINAL question I read him said, "If you had the money which would you choose to hire, a housekeeper, a cook, a gardener, or a personal secretary?" Assuming he would of course say a housekeeper or personal secretary, (but thought he should say a gardener) with out and hesitation he spouted off "a cook". What...is he serious. I would some what understand if I didn't like to cook, or I rarely cooked, but that is quite the opposite. The Food Network is my TV of choice, I spend ample time combing through cook books, I receive cooking magazines in the mail, and YES I cook a lot.

No matter how much I think my culinary abilities are well received, there will never be any getting past that one and only love for his mom's pot roast and jello salad. How can I compare...

At least someone enjoyed them.

oh ashley....I totally sympathize! how funny is that! doesn't it seem like it takes forever to plan a meal, shop, make it and then clean up! at least now you have a perfect excuse to order take out or go out every night! I think the cupcakes look amazing and in fact I might be drooling just a little!

I was going to write that I can't believe Matt said that... but I know (and love) my brother and I believe it... let's choose to think that he only said it because he sees how much effort and time you put into cooking and he believes you would love some free time to put your feet up and relax and still eat wonderful food like you make.

I'd love the Hostess recipe too...

Glad to see you are blogging again!

This story made me laugh out loud. And seriously ... those cupcakes look amazingly delicious! We have that game Table Topics too - I love it. It was really fun to run into you on the Avenue the other day. Let's get together again soon!

Yay, you're blogging again. And I even checked your blog the week you began again. Your cupcakes are the cutest and that is sooo funny Matt said "a cook." Seriously?

So I must explain my innocence. Ashley is an amazing cook (the most amazing) and even surpasses my Mom in cooking skills. (Mom I hope you don’t read this) If you watch the next food network star she reminds me of the Mom named Melissa D’Arabian.

So that brings me to what I was thinking and what I meant, when I made the comment. I see how much effort she puts into everything she makes. Ashley never does anything the simple way she searches the internet for very best recipe. For example if she is going to make pancakes they have to be the most decadent fancy pancakes that ever hit your taste buds, that’s why I call her fancy pants very similar to her Grandma Rose may I add!

She makes the most elaborate meals and I am the benefactor, so you might ask why I would say a cook, which in one light seems like a complaint. I was thinking if she could save all the time and energy on cooking and we still received 5 star quality meals then we would have more time for each other. Hind sight I still should have said a house keeper because I know how much Ashley loves to cook and how much we both hate to clean!

Glad to see you guys back in the blogging world. You guys are expecting? When are you due? Boy/Girl? Congrats! We are having #2 at the end of August. I think your little guy and my little guy share the same birthday. How are you handling this heat! I am dying!

No to answer the question I'm pretty convinced men don't have the ability to think before they speak. But be comforted in knowing that it is the whole breed not just yours :) I am so excited your back since it's you that talked me into this whole blog thing and it haunts me everyday that don't get caught up. Can't wait to see you!

Oh, that made me laugh. Don't worry, Matt. Jake's favorite snack is foot.
