Yes it worked!

Matt has been subtly, and not so subtly, been letting me know for years that every morning while growing up his mom would call down to his room and ask him what he wanted for breakfast. Taking full advantage he would call back, omelet, pancakes, waffles, french toast or what ever his heart desired on that particular day. Through all his hint dropping I always have just responded by saying, "really, I am not much of a breakfast person," "wow that was nice of her," "my mom made oatmeal." He clearly didn't think I understood what he was saying, because he just kept telling me.

We finally starting working out a system for taking care of Samuel at night that keeps both of us from turning into a total zombie. I get up in the night, and about 6:30am Matt takes Samuel for an hour while I sleep some more. My breakfast loving husband soon decided to kill two birds with one stone. He entertains Samuel in the Bumbo chair by showing him how to make a decadent breakfast. I have been totally shocked at his new found friend, Ina Garten, by scouring her Barefoot Contessa cook books each morning. The mess he creates in the kitchen usually gets taken care of too, but if not, he gets away with it by bringing me his delights in bed each morning.

Samuel gets fed, I get sleep, Matt gets breakfast, Daddy and baby get time together, and now I'm all into breakfast too!

Dreamy. I'm having Micah read this post immediately. I LOVE the breakfasts in my Barefoot Contessa cookbooks. Best ever. I'm so impressed that Matt goes the extra mile. I'd be impressed if he made pancakes from a box! And letting you sleep in, wow.
Funny about his mom making whatever his heart desired each morn.

So funny to read... clearly Matt and I had different experiences growing up in the same household :). I am so glad though that it has transferred to a great system, so beneficial to all involved. What a fun thing for Samuel too (and good training for his future!). Way to go Matt! You'll have to post some of the favorite recipes!

Samuel is sooooo cute! What a cute little boy. I can't believe how big he is! Mae, Aimee's girl, can't even compete!
It was great to talk with you last night, and I will see you in a month.

What a good boy Mathew! I am so not a breakfast person either in fact I can't even remember the last time I made a pancake. Dave is always the one whipping out the crepes. I love Matt's hints. I can imagine that little dimple trying to convince you to make him breakfast! Samuel is way too cute in that cowboy hat!! and tell me about the cruise plans and make the sour cream banana pancakes by Ina, they are my fave!

PS I just noticed the title of this post "Yes it worked." That is how you told me you were pregnant so funny!

did he make you green pancake for St. Patricks day? Seth likes to cook too but only when he is really hungry. But when he does it it's really good. He made breakfast on Sunday for dinner. Yumm.

Yeah you have a blog. I can't believe how big Sam has gotten.

I'm glad to see Matt finally found his own method for getting his breakfast.
